Plastics processor RENOLIT welcomes the decision by the Rhine-Neckar Planning Association to designate the area east of the A61 highway and south of the B47 federal road as a priority area for wind turbines.

This paves the way for RENOLIT to build a wind farm with three wind turbines in the immediate vicinity of its headquarters in Worms. For the industrial company, this is an important step towards an independent, climate-neutral energy supply.

We are delighted that the city of Worms and the planning association have created the conditions to enable the construction of a wind farm. This is an important and strong signal for the future viability of our industrial location – says Torsten Maschke, Executive Board member of RENOLIT. – At the same time, it is a clear commitment by business and politics to climate protection and sustainable industry in our region.

Back in March 2025, RENOLIT presented a comprehensive investment project: the production sites in Worms and Frankenthal are planned to be merged at the Worms site over the next five years. The family-owned company is investing a total of around 130 million euros in the project. The merger of the production sites will significantly increase energy requirements at the Worms site. That is why the company's own generation of renewable energies is a key component of its corporate strategy.

RENOLIT is pursuing the goal of making its entire production climate-neutral by 2045 at the latest – in line with national and European climate protection targets. The priority area for wind energy that has now been designated plays a key role in this regard: The planned wind farm can cover a significant proportion of the future electricity requirements at the Worms site and thus make a relevant contribution to reducing fossil fuels.

Furthermore, using its own wind energy helps to stabilize energy costs at the Worms site, which have risen significantly in recent years, particularly in Germany.

Torsten Maschke explains: By using our own renewable energies, RENOLIT can stabilize and reduce the rapidly increasing energy costs in the long term. This strengthens our competitiveness and thus secures jobs in Worms in the long term. A strong, sustainable industry is a decisive factor for the economic stability of our city.

RENOLIT has provided citizens with comprehensive information about the project through information events in the neighboring districts of Horchheim, Pfiffligheim, Wiesoppenheim, and Pfeddersheim. Until the planned commissioning of the RENOLIT wind farm in 2030, the company will continue to provide open and transparent information and act in a binding manner.

Close cooperation between the city, region, and industry is essential for Germany's industrial future and the success of the energy transition – Torsten Maschke concludes. – We would like to thank the city of Worms for its support in this process. The decision that has now been made is forward-looking and offers a wide range of added value for the environment, the economy, and society.
