Schüco Deflame – Fire protection and design freedom in a single system

If fire protection measures in a building don't work, then a fire can quickly become a threat – especially in skyscrapers. The official regulations and standards still don't sufficiently record or uniformly regulate the spread of fire by means of curtain walls. Country and building-specific regulations further complicate the issue.
Schüco Deflame is a solution that meets or even exceeds the majority of national and international requirements. The system has been tested and classified in accordance with DIN EN 1364-4 of the product standard for curtain walling DIN EN 13830. The fire-resistant panels provide 60 or 90 minutes of fire resistance and even achieve an EI classification of up to 120 minutes in the intermediate floor area.
This means that the panel delays the spread of fire from façade opening to façade opening or building compartment to building compartment due to the ignition of all exposed combustible material in an enclosed area as a result of the effects of radiant heat. What makes it so unique is the fact the FWS 50/60 façade system can be fitted with Schüco Deflame to provide fire resistance, without the need for a special solution.
The Schüco Deflame flashover point panel means that there is no need to make any compromises on either fire protection or the façade design. The panel is fully integrated in the Schüco FWS 50/60 mullion/transom façade and the high degree of design freedom means that the transitions between the fire protection and standard areas of the façade are not just seamless, but invisible too.
The opaque external side of the panel can be designed with any non-flammable material, such as sheet metal or printed glass, to create a unique façade design. Floor-to-ceiling views are still also possible with Schüco Deflame. This is because the flashover point panel can be used as a lower or upper spandrel solution, or as a combination of the two, for flexible planning and façade design.
The Deflame panel is supplied to size together with the prefabricated mullion insert profiles. As a result, all that remains to be done is to mount the retaining brackets on the panel, and to fabricate the spandrel panel with metal sheet. No specific tools or machinery are required. The production of Schüco Deflame does not require the fabricator to be certified.
