Solar drives enable roller shutters and window awnings to be operated independent of the power grid
The Becker SolarKit allows Warema roller shutters and window awnings to be motorised without extensive cabling. This opens up an attractive field for specialised retailers, particularly in the retrofitting of sun shading systems.
Many property owners would love to have convenient sun shading, but are put off by the installation work required for this form of modernisation. To connect electrically operated roller shutters or window awnings to the power supply, cables must be laid and slits may need to be cut into walls. The Becker SolarKit does things differently: the solar drive allows Warema sun shading systems to be operated independent of the power grid, contributing to sustainability and saving energy in the process.
The SolarKit consists of a direct-current drive with a torque of 10 Nm, an integrated storage battery and a solar panel. It is operated via radio using a pre-programmed 1-channel EWFS hand-held transmitter, also included in the set. An optional multi-channel hand-held transmitter is also available, which can be used to control up to five roller shutters or window awnings.
Thanks to the highly efficient solar cells, the battery charges even in diffused light or if the panel is not optimally positioned. A fully charged battery can open and close the sun shading more than 100 times. The controls and charging electronics are built into the drive. The limit stop and motor limit positions can be adjusted. Two freely selectable intermediate positions can also be programmed.
There is no need to break through walls to install the system, and no electrical connection work or extensive cabling is required. This makes the SolarKit particularly interesting for retrofitting sun shading systems and offers attractive options for specialised retailers in the modernisation market. It can be used with front-mounted roller shutters and shaft roller shutter systems – the system is also available in a flush-mounted design with a separate solar panel – and with front-mounted window awnings.
