The European PVC Window Profile and related Building Products Association (EPPA), its members and co-exhibitors will not participate to the fair that was recently re-scheduled to take place in June 2020. The largest players in the European PVC profile market agree that the current COVID-19 crisis does not allow the organization of and participation to the fair.
On Monday, March 9, the industry was informed that the Fensterbau Frontale will be moved to take place on the 16th to 19th of June 2020. The reason for this re-scheduling is the current Corona crisis that impacts not only Germany but the whole world. The decision of Europe's leading trade fair for windows and doors affects our industry. For this reason, the industry has intensively the analyzed current situation and the possible effects of the COVID 19 pandemic in the past few days. Since it is to be expected that the peak of the spread is still ahead of us, it is entirely uncertain whether the alternative date in June can be kept at all.
Cancellation by leading system houses
The only valid conclusion from the above considerations has been a cancellation of our participation i.e. neither EPPA and the Gütegemeinschaft Kunststoff-Fensterprofilsysteme as coexhibitor nor its members aluplast, Deceuninck, Gealan, Rehau, Salamander, Schüco and Veka and beyond i.e. profine will be present in Nuremberg. Due to the tense situation, the June date is very unlikely, so a new date should be found in the more distant future – stresses Charlotte Röber, managing director of EPPA.
We remain operational
Despite the cancellation of events, meetings and gatherings the industry remains operational. Thanks to digitization and dynamic teams, the association and its European network will continue to work on those issues that concern the industry most. For EPPA, this relates in particular to the ensuring legal certainty for mechanical recycling in Europe.
Although the staff of European institutions is, like us, engaging in social distancing, we advance our work via e-mails, telephone and video calls. Thanks to our committed members, our European recycling strategy is being implemented with meetings in Germany, France and Poland carried out online – says Charlotte Röber.
