Yale secure social housing project in partnership with Hadrian Window Systems

Newcastle-based window manufacturer Hadrian Window Systems Limited has partnered with Yale Door and Window Solutions to offer the Yale Revolution window hinge across its fully reversible profile suite in domestic applications.

The partnership is part of the EU-funded GATESHEAD HEIGHTS project, a £4.5m social housing initiative that aims to improve energy efficiency in homes across the Gateshead area. The project, which was completed in December 2018, saw six blocks of flats fitted with the Yale Revolution window hinge. That will be 468 properties in total, approximately 3,276 windows.

David Logan, commercial director for Hadrian Window Systems, comments: Following a review of window opening styles by Gateshead Council, the Yale Revolution top turn was agreed upon as the best hinge to specify. Partnering with Yale demonstrates our commitment to providing owners and tenants with secure, sustainable solutions to their housing issues. Part of that commitment means using the very best materials. With a proven history of high-quality products, Yale fits this brief.

The Yale Revolution Window Hinge is a fully reversible window hinge with a unique patented dual function restrictor. It is the only hinge in the industry to offer this dual function and is the ideal choice for reversible upper floor windows in multi-occupancy social housing developments.

Paul Atkinson, Sales and Commercial Director for Yale DWS, said: The collaboration is a prime example of how partnerships offer a more joined-up approach for contractors, resulting in a better product for everyone, from local authorities to individual residents. The combination of Hadrian Window Systems with Yale hinges will provide Gateshead social housing with a robust solution for many years to come.

Thanks to its unique patented dual closing function, the hinge can be switched at installation between anti-blowback and easy close functions depending on specification and housing requirements. The onsite configuration allows for increased flexibility across housing associations with multiple building types and also helps reduce time and costs associated with returns or contractors carrying high levels of stock.
