EKO-OKNA invest in new solutions in the field of logistic and transport

After launching the finished products warehouse, Eko-Okna invest in new solutions in the field of logistic and transport. Logistic and transport are, apart from window production, very strong side of the Eko-Okna company. The manufacturer constantly develops in this area and does not have to use solutions offered by external forwarding agencies.

Less than one year ago, Eko-Okna put into use finished products warehouse which is the logistic center of the whole company. Here, all finished products are transported and later completed according to orders. Amid to the development of export sales in the USA, the warehouse has also been adapted for loading containers.

The warehouse has significantly improved shipping. The next logistic improvement will be vehicles with the BDF system. The first examples have already enriched the company’s fleet of trucks, which today has as many as 350 trucks. Vehicles with an interchangeable body system enable shipping without presence of car or driver.

Containers are transported with a special platform using the tractor to the loading zones where they are loaded. After shipping they are again transported at the parking lot, where they are placed at the support pillars. On the departure day, the driver approaches the container, which is hooked to the chassis. This allows to save space in the warehouse and improve the internal capacity of the company, because trucks don’t need to once again move to the FPW and don’t block internal traffic – explain Dawid Wyrtki, director of logistics and transport in Eko-Okna S.A.

Trucks with the BDF chassis, like the rest of the fleet have been adapted to transport a forklift. Eko-Okna are known from always taking in road a forklift and thanks to that they can not only deliver the order but also unload it.

Currently, our BDFs shuttle to France and Germany. However, we are already working on using them also on other routes – adds Dawid Wyrtki.

As we find out, Eko-Okna plan to buy more this type vehicles. This year, the company fleet will expand by 4 cars of this type. Next year, more will join them.
